He Huarahi Tamariki (A Chance for Children), established in 1994, is a school for teenage parents in the greater Wellington area. He Huarahi Tamariki provides a second chance education for students unable to complete their formal secondary education due to pregnancy or the birth of a child.
He Huarahi Tamariki offers a broad academic program utilising both in-house teaching expertise and external providers. We support students to reach their potential while they are here and help them plan their next steps. All students have individual programmes and work in small classes.
Our student support programme is comprehensive and is based on Te Whare Tapa Whā whereby all needs are supported and enriched. We offer a range of services in-house, and some are provided by visiting agencies. Where applicable, we advocate for our students with external organisations.
Located in Linden, He Huarahi Tamariki is a modern, purpose built complex which includes Kids Count - The Griffin School, a highly successful Early Childhood Centre, catering for the children of our students.
